Teenage Pregnancy Meaning and Conditions

Image
Teenage pregnancy - is defined as a global phenomenon in which pregnancy occured between thirteen and nineteen years of age. The most affected of this phenomenon are developing countries just like Africa, Philippines and other developing countries who are economically poor. World Health Organization says that as of 2019, adolescents aged 15–19 years in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) had an estimated 21 million pregnancies each year, of which approximately 50% were unintended and which resulted in an estimated 12 million births (1)(2). Child marriage and child sexual abuse place girls at increased risk of pregnancy, often unintended. World Health Organization tried to call for humanitarian reason those countries affected so much with this phenomenon. Chapter 2 - Related Studies

RELATED STUDIES Economic stability has also been identified as important in influencing maternal health care service utilization behavior of women. For example, a study in more than 50 countries showed that on average more than 80% of births were attended for the richest women compared with only 34% of the poorest women (Gill, Pande and Malhotra 2007). In Ethiopia, Dagne (2010) also found on her study a statistically significant association between household wealth and assistance during delivery with women in the rich and richest wealth groups more likely to have professional assistance during birth ( Dagna,2010). Therefore we expect women with more children to have lower levels of use of maternal health care services because of the constraints of time and money. Also, greater use of maternal health care services for first births may be attributed to higher risk of complications (Majokoet al.2004).   THESIS ON FACTORS AFFECTING COMPLIANCE FACILITY-BASED DELIVERY Approval...

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE Chapter 1

Image
CHAPTER I   THE PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE   Background of the Study The United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) seek to reduce the under-5 child mortality by two thirds and maternal mortality by three-quarters between 1990 and 2015, these goals known as MDG 4 and MDG 5 respectively (UN,2011).   These goals become critical targets for Developing countries which prioritized interventions and national healthspending.Yet meeting MDGs 4 and 5 was remains to be challenging: mortality rates aredecreasing, but not rapidly enough to meet the MDGs in most countries (Hogan et al.,2010; Rajaratman et al.,2010). In many low-income settings with high burden of maternal deaths, few women use facilities for birth, often choosing a higher risk birth athome, often without professional medical assistance.WHO (2010) stated it was globally recognized that one of the main challenges to achieving the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) of a global reduction of matern...
