Animals in our Ecological System and Animal Science
Ecology is simply defined as study of relationship of living things and the environment where they live. In an ecosystem, the continued growth of plants and animals depends on maintenance of the balance between the food producers (plants) and the food consumers (animals and man). Thus, plants and animals (included the man) are key players of an ecosystem. Figure 1.1 shows the components of an ecological system and their relationships.
